There is a wealth of attractions in Udaipur, from royal palaces and monuments to ancient temples, forts, and museums. It is easy to travel between most of these attractions in Udaipur within a day or two because they are located centrally. These are some of the best places to visit in Udaipur:
The Pichola Lake
Interestingly, the whole city of Udaipur prospered around Lake Pichola, both historically and now. The lake has been constructed by a gypsy from Rajasthan, known as “Banjara”. Udaipur was built around this lake by Maharana Udai Singh. The islands in Lake Pichola have various tourist attractions, so you are sure to have a whale of a time. Sunset views are the best. A boat cruise in the evening will illuminate the city at night as the sun sets.
The Bagore Ki Haveli
The palatial Haveli located on the shores of Lake Pichola is among the most interesting things to do in Udaipur. These massive structures act as a live museum, revealing the royal loves of kings and queens. We ended our first day in Udaipur with the Dharohar Dance Show at Bagore Ki Haveli. There is an hour-long show in the courtyard that starts around 7 PM. It was a very folk Rajasthani atmosphere with beautifully lit balconies. The stage is surrounded by large mattresses placed on the floor on three sides of the terrace. In Dharohar dance show, Rajasthani folklore is presented in an attractive manner through tradition and culture.
Fateh Sagar Lake
Planning a short trip to Udaipur can be a herculean task due to the number of things to see and do here. We headed to Fateh Sagar Lake next in the hopes that we won’t miss anything crucial. In the 1680s, Maharana Fateh Singh created this artificial freshwater lake. The lake has several islands, the largest being a park called Nehru Park.

It was quite easy to see the City Palace from hotel window. A grand palace on the banks of Lake Pichola exemplifies the status and charm of the Mewar dynasty. Visiting the palace museum is an essential part of a visit to the Udaipur City Palace. There are many things to do in Udaipur, but this is one of the best.
